| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
In the
UNC School of Medicine our mission is to improve the health and well-being of North Carolinians and others whom we serve. Our Hospice & Palliative Medicine physicians are leading the way in expert clinical care, education, research, outreach and innovation to improve care and outcomes for people living with serious illness and their families.
Patient care: The Palliative Care & Hospice Program, in partnership with the medical faculty of the School of Medicine, promotes health and provides superb clinical care while maintaining our strong tradition of reaching underserved populations and improving access to high quality healthcare across North Carolina and beyond. Clinical services include inpatient Palliative Care consultation, outpatient Palliative Care clinics serving patients with cancer and other serious illnesses, community-based Palliative Care and inpatient Hospice.
Education: The
UNC School of Medicine faculty seeks to prepare tomorrow's healthcare professionals and biomedical researchers by facilitating learning within innovative and integrated curricula and team-oriented interprofessional education.
Research: Clinical investigators find rich opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration across the School of Medicine faculty and the Health Affairs campus, including Schools of Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, Social Work and Dentistry.
UNC hosts major research centers, including the
NIH-funded Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute, the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, the
NCI-funded Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and many others that facilitate the process of grants management and clinical research implementation. |
| Position Summary |
The Department of Medicine, in collaboration with our Palliative Care & Hospice Program https://www.med.unc.edu/pcare/ at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking a Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician to join our growing team. The faculty physician filling this open rank fixed term position will combine clinical care with expertise in clinical research or quality improvement. This faculty physician will have opportunities to excel and lead in clinical research, including access to relevant resources, mentoring and collaboration. The position can be configured for placement in any sub-specialty divisions within the Department of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, or Department of Emergency Medicine. Academic appointment will be made based on physician specialty and subspecialty in conjunction with the Palliative Care & Hospice Program. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience, and will include the School of Medicine faculty generous benefits package and incentive plan. |
