Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC's), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community.

This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport.

We are seeking an experienced House Supervisor (RN) (PRN-Days)

The House Supervisor (RN) provides administrative and clinical leadership during assigned shifts and serves as the on-site representative of hospital leadership. The House Supervisor is responsible for coordinating patient care operations, staffing, patient flow, regulatory compliance, emergency response, and resource management across all departments to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

This role acts as a clinical resource and leadership support for nursing and ancillary staff while promoting a culture of safety, service excellence, and collaboration.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight of hospital operations during evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and other designated shifts.
  • Monitor patient care delivery to ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for nursing staff regarding complex patient care situations.
  • Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and bed placement activities.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in patient rounding and address patient care concerns or escalated issues.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and adjust staffing levels based on patient census, acuity, and operational needs.
  • Manage staffing shortages through reassignment, floating, overtime approval, agency utilization, and on-call staff activation.
  • Monitor labor utilization and staffing productivity.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of equipment, supplies, and clinical resources throughout the facility.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to nursing and ancillary staff.
  • Serve as the highest-ranking nursing leader on duty during assigned shifts.
  • Assist with conflict resolution involving patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
  • Support employee engagement, performance improvement, and professional development initiatives.
  • Respond to emergency situations including rapid responses, code blue events, disasters, mass casualty incidents, and other hospital emergencies.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities and serve in a leadership capacity during incidents.
  • Ensure adherence to emergency preparedness plans and protocols.
  • Document shift activities, staffing adjustments, patient flow concerns, and operational issues.
  • Prepare reports and communicate significant events to nursing leadership and hospital administration.
  • Participate in hospital committees, leadership meetings, and operational initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or preferred.
  • DC RN License required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience required.
  • Previous charge nurse, clinical supervisor, nurse manager, or leadership experience required.
  • Experience in hospital-wide operations and patient flow management required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • PALS certification preferred.
