DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the food service operations of SCI Fayette by leading inmate workers and guiding their vocational development. The work helps keep daily meal service running smoothly while building skills that support inmate progress. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor- SCI Fayette, you will perform the following duties:
- Food Instruction: Teach inmates how to prepare, cook, bake, and serve meals in a safe and orderly environment
- Sanitation Oversight: Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure they meet safety and sanitation standards
- Supply Management: Review menus, adjust recipes, and manage food storage and inventory to reduce waste
- Work Coordination: Assign tasks, review work performance, and maintain accurate inmate worker records
- Custody Support: Maintain care, custody, and control of inmates during daily food service activities

- Full-time employment - 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- This is shift work with pass days off to be determined. Shifts are awarded based on bidding and seniority.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
