Position Summary

Provides professional and confidential crisis response, advocacy, accompaniment, and referral services to survivors of all forms of violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence, hate crimes, stalking, sexual harassment, and other crimes in order to facilitate and promote individual recovery and success. Empowers individuals by providing clear and timely information and access to resources so individuals may make informed decisions that reflect their unique needs. Responsible for complying with federal and state regulations, such as the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Title IX, and Clery Act.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Serves as a point of contact for survivors of violent crimes seeking confidential support, crisis response, advocacy services, referrals, and/or information.
  2. Independently assesses high-risk situations, to include evaluations of an individual's physical and emotional state and assisting individuals in crisis.
  3. Assists individuals with navigating University resources and systems, as well as identifying resources and options for reporting crimes, seeking medical attention, and/or obtaining additional support services.
  4. Accompanies individuals to court, medical/investigative procedures, on-campus administrative proceedings, meetings with law enforcement officials, and/or other related processes, as requested by the affected individual.
  5. Provides referrals to resources available on- and off-campus; assists individuals in obtaining emergency support, including housing, food, clothing, transportation, substance abuse treatment, and counseling.
  6. Fosters collaboration with internal and external constituencies to raise awareness about intersectional approaches to understanding and responding to interpersonal violence; develops and maintains rapport with partners in the community and across campus.
  7. Makes recommendations on the implementation of short- and long-range program goals and objectives; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness.
  8. Serves on various department and campus committees and task forces, and participates in various initiatives and projects as appropriate to overall position objectives.
  9. Ensures compliance with all applicable University, State, and Federal laws and regulations.
  10. Maintains strict confidentiality of clients and records.
  11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a directly related field; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
