Application Window Open date: May 28, 2026 Next review date: Friday, Jun 12, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Friday, Jun 12, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music seeks an experienced administrator and university-level instructor to be an Academic Administrator, under the title of Academic Administrator of the UCLA Lowell Milken Center for Music of American Jewish Experience. The position is a 50% time annual (12-month) appointment with possibility of annual renewal. On average, about 37.5% time will be devoted to administration and 12.5% to teaching. The appointment will be in one of The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music departments appropriate for the candidate; a Ph.D. in Musicology, Ethnomusicology or a related field, or a D.M.A. in Music, is required. Other qualifications include experience in event coordination and program development. Starting salary will range from Step 1 ($84,246) to Step 5 ($92,330), commensurate with experience. The Lowell Milken Center for Music of American Jewish Experience supports research, performance and public engagement activities about American Jewish music. Events will occur at UCLA and elsewhere. The Academic Administrator will help to administer the Lowell Milken Center for American Jewish Music Experience academic programs and projects. They will plan, execute, and publicize lectures, concerts and other Center events, in collaboration with the Center's director, manager and event coordinator, UCLA faculty, and co-sponsoring units. The Academic Administrator will also lead the design and implementation of research-driven initiatives that bridge scholarly inquiry with public engagement, ensuring that archival Jewish music traditions are preserved through rigorous study and revitalized via accessible community performances and digital platforms. They will field ideas and assist in developing event proposals, coordinate periodic meetings of associated faculty and staff, and serve as a liaison for the Center, strategically representing its interests and mission to both on- and off-campus partners. The Academic Administrator will also teach one large undergraduate lecture course (and oversee teaching assistants) in the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music during the regular academic year. Depending on teaching needs, a graduate-level seminar may also be considered for your workload (instead of the undergraduate course). Specific subjects taught will reflect the expertise and teaching experience of the instructor. This position will report to the Director of the Lowell Milken Center for Music of American Jewish Experience. Qualifications Basic qualifications
