General Description

Provide expert consultation, analysis, facilitation, research, and project management in all areas related to the education, training, and development of employees within a Duke department or organization.


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop an education, training, and development model, and determine the specific needs that link directly to organizational business goals and objectives.



  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop guiding principles, strategies, and plans.



  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to determine education, training, and development priorities based on assessed needs, business impact, and available resources.



  • Coordinate existing training programs and provide consultation to managers for the development of job-specific training.



  • Design, conduct, and/or broker the delivery of training programs from a variety of resources.



  • Research, evaluate, and select outside consultants and trainers to meet training needs as appropriate.



  • Prepare budgets and develop the administrative framework required to support education, training, and development programs and initiatives.



  • Formulate policies, procedures, and schedules to support education and training operations and initiatives.



  • Develop methods, procedures, and systems to support learning initiatives and records maintenance.



  • Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of training and development programs.



  • Coach managers and employees regarding career development strategies and techniques.



  • Manage all aspects of the department's Tuition Assistance Program, including program administration, communication, tracking, reporting, and evaluation.



  • Conduct research, collect data, and write reports to support the timeliness, accuracy, and quality of business decisions.



  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.




Required Qualifications


  • Education: Work requires completion of a Bachelor's degree.



  • Experience: Work requires a minimum of five years of experience in the design, delivery, and evaluation of business-related education, training, and/or development programs, preferably in a research environment. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
