Genesis10 is currently seeking a Data Engineer for an onsite position with a Global Financial Institution located in Charlotte, NC, Kennesaw, GA, or Richmond, VA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

As a Data Engineer, you will provide the business with data-driven solutions to help improve processes, decision-making, and overall business performance. The primary focus is to gather, analyze, interpret, and present data to help the business make strategic decisions. This role is responsible for designing data solution frameworks using Hadoop tools and technologies, ingesting data from various sources, and developing programs using Python and Scala to clean and process raw data.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and organize raw data
  • Build data systems and pipelines
  • Evaluate business needs and objectives
  • Interpret trends and patterns
  • Conduct complex data analysis and report on results
  • Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling
  • Build algorithms and prototypes
  • Combine raw information from different sources
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Develop analytical tools and programs
  • Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects
  • Analyze data to determine accuracy and completeness of data relationships between different data sets
  • Gather and document business and functional requirements, designs and develops reports, dashboards and ad hoc analyses
  • Design and build data models and build data product roadmaps to support business processes
  • Prototype solutions, prepare test scripts, and conduct tests for data replication, extraction, loading, cleansing, and data modeling for data warehouses
  • Assist with the integration and transformation of data resources
  • Use data science principles and algorithms to analyze the data for data quality
  • Identify rich data sources and build tools to effectively work with the data

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field; a Master's is a plus
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python)
  • Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark
  • Proficiency in SQL and other data manipulation languages
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms
  • Proven track record of managing and executing data projects
  • Data engineering certification (e.g IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus
  • Certification in data analytics or related fields is a plus

Desired skills:

  • 3+ years working with data migrations and/or implementations
Pay rate: $60.24 - $68.24 per hour
