Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

About the Position

Are you looking for a fun, meaningful role that lets you connect directly with the community? Join us as an Registered Nurse with our Community Immunizations Team, where you will help protect the health of children and adults across Maricopa County.

In this position, your primary responsibility is to provide immunizations at community outreach events, clinics, and other public settings. You will support access to essential vaccines by delivering safe, highquality immunization services in a variety of environments. You will also assist with patient care in immunization clinics and may participate in public health response efforts during disease outbreaks. This role blends handson clinical work with community engagement, helping improve immunization access and outcomes across diverse populations. Immunization events may occur after hours and on weekends.

We Require

  • One year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a community/public health setting, school, physician's office, acute care facility, or other relevant nursing practice

  • Graduation of an accredited School of Nursing with a valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing (or another state recognized by Arizona as a multi-compact license state)

Job Contributions

  • Provides immunizations to adults and children at our clinic locations and during outreach events, including reviewing immunization records and ASIIS data, determining vaccine needs, administering vaccines, and ensuring appropriate followup and documentation (some outreach events will occur after hours and on weekends)

  • Supports community immunization outreach efforts by participating in events that expand vaccine access, promote awareness, and advance public health initiatives, while ensuring proper transport, handling, and storage of vaccines and supplies (events may take place after hours and on weekends)

  • Assists with operational setup and closure for fixed immunization clinics and communitybased events, ensuring readiness, safety, and adherence to clinical protocols

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation through nurses' notes, reporting forms, consent forms, and electronic databases, and provides clients with proof of administered immunizations

  • Collaborates with community partners and public health agencies to support immunization activities, share relevant information, and participate in meetings, trainings, and inservices related to immunization practices and public health priorities

  • Participates in vaccine-preventable disease responses

Working Conditions

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

  • Work is performed at community events, mobile outreach, or indoors in a high-volume, clinical office setting while interacting with a diverse population and working in a team environment

  • Valid Arizona Driver's license is required upon hire

  • Employee must have reliable transportation, as they may have to travel to other locations if coverage is needed

  • Employee will drive to outreach events and immunization clinics across Maricopa County including outreach events on weekends and during evening hours

  • Must be able to participate in public health response efforts during disease outbreaks and participate in emergency response trainings as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency

  • Ability to exert 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly

  • Current CPR certification is required upon hire

  • Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza. Some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
