Engineer I - Systems
Overview Department 428 Energy Storage is responsible for the VIRGINIA Class and COLUMBIA Class design, development, qualification, integration, and testing for the main storage battery. The Energy Storage group supports submarine construction, lifecycle of in service classes, as well as the development of future energy storage technologies and future platforms. The main storage battery is a high energy, high power battery that provides backup power to the submarine. This position requires a systems engineering approach for design, development, and requirements tracking. The position requires a large level of interfacing with other engineering disciplines including structural, ventilation, mechanical, and other electrical groups. Daily tasks and responsibilities may include:
Design, develop, and qualify the main storage battery
