The Chief Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an APP with demonstrated leadership skills and clinical excellence as an APP. This individual provides support and direction of APPs in their area(s) of UNC Physicians in professional development, credentialing, continuing education, training, and recognition. This position requires both administrative and clinical time. The Chief APP ensures that APPs in their area(s) are in alignment with and receive education about scope of practice, regulatory requirements, collaborative agreements, credentialing, privileging and onboarding of APPs; works to build systems and structures to support high-performing provider teams and optimize the APP workforce. The Chief APP will work in a collaborative fashion across UNC Health entities to advocate for and support the strategic and operational plans of the organization. Within the UNCHMG, responsible for working collaboratively with physician and administrative leadership and providing strategic leadership and direction in the development of the APP Academy for UNC Health Medical Group. Within UNC Health Faculty Practice, works collaboratively with ACAs and department chairs. |
Responsibilities: Strategic: Establishes long-term strategy and goals in alignment with UNC Physicians and UNC Health system leadership. Interfaces with APP clinician leaders within UNC Physicians and other entities to align strategic objectives and encourage cross-entity learning and collaboration. Represents APP issues at the executive level of UNC Physicians entities. Works with leadership to implement and adopt services, initiatives, and tactics to improve organizational performance and increase organizational quality/safety. Develops meeting cadence/management processes to accomplish improved data-sharing and ongoing performance management. Provides oversight and strategic direction to program leaders to help achieve program goals. Partners with Clinical Operations leadership on administrative matters and serves as escalation point for issues within the clinical arm of the organization. Improves entity performance in safety, quality, and access through evaluation of new initiatives and their impact and value. Collaborates with leadership on creation of budget and provides oversight on spending of allocated budget. Leads and supports clinical safe, viable strategies to reduce utilization and costs while improving quality of care and outcomes. Represents APPs and patients in the design and deployment of patient and APP tools, tactics, solutions, and initiatives. Represents the organization in clinical initiatives, leading by collaboration and expert communication. Leading People: Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Other information: Education Requirements: * Master's degree or equivalent. * * Licensure/Certification Requirements: * APP Licensure. * Other requirements are based on clinical specialty or primary practice. * Professional Experience Requirements: * Requires seven (7) years of clinical practice with at least three (3) years of progressive leadership experience. * * Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: * Exceptional relationship building and networking skills.
