The Department of Medicine at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a (Temporary) Coordinator Student Programs. About the Opportunity The Program Coordinator of medical student education assists in the planning, implementation and evaluation of medical student activities. The coordinator additionally serves as a liaison between the educational leaders in the department and various schools. What You'll Do
- Cultivates relationships with academic partners with the intent of introducing them to pipeline programs and/or opportunities for their students. Serves as the primary contact to schools for scheduling medical student rotations.
- Serves as the front-line contact with individual students and faculty across the academic footprint.
- Assists with the development, maintenance, and revision of school contracts in collaboration with school administrators, hospital administration, and legal
- Ensures all minimum requirements are met for students and faculty. Assists with registration and follow ups with students
- Organizes student rotations, prepares files, evaluations, and student orientation packets
- Provide curriculum support to the program by maintaining current documentation, maintaining site relationships, and work with leadership to track and support resident rotations and elective planning
- Actively participates in the marketing and recruitment process while representing the institution in a
professional and positive fashion. Develops, maintains, and revises student education campaigns - Maintains continuous and open communication with department personnel, clinical instructors, and students with respect to changes and updates in programmatic administration, and/or instructional policies and procedures
- Directs students and faculty with special concerns to the respective support agencies provided by the institution or external organizations.
- Provides administrative support and participates in departmental and organizational meetings, task forces, projects, and committees, as directed, to contribute to the attainment of established goals and objectives.
- Coordinates department visiting professor/instructor lectureships in accordance to ACCME standards. Creates visiting professor itinerary, orders posters and flyers for event.
- Pay Grade: 17
- Length of Assignment: Approximately 8.5 months
- Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business, Education, Healthcare, Administration, or related field
- A minimum of one (1) year of administrative assistant experience.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and other Web Base Programs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently and guide others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Office administration with scheduling responsibilities.
- Residency or medical education office experience.
