The George Washington University (GW) is seeking a Legal Assistant to join its Office of the Vice President and General Counsel (
OGC).
OGC provides quality legal, strategic and policy advice, and counseling on a broad range of cutting-edge issues that confront a large urban private research university. The successful candidate will provide exceptional legal administrative support. This position will report to the Special Assistant and Business Operations Manager.
Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
- Schedule meetings and maintains calendars for multiple attorneys.
- Manage the reception area. Greet visitors and answer phone calls in a professional manner, and refer matters to the appropriate attorney as needed. Maintain daily attendance sheets.
- Process travel and expense reports.
- Draft correspondence, reports, tables, forms, and other basic legal documents for attorney approval.
- Assist with office operations and special projects such as records management.
- Perform a variety of clerical tasks such as managing incoming and outgoing mail; assisting with IT and Microsoft Office Suite troubleshooting; updating spreadsheets, photocopying, typing, filing; preparing documents for archives.
- Assist with responding to subpoenas and records requests, including obtaining responsive documents and making appropriate redactions.
- Assist with completing corporate filings and track compliance deadlines.
- Manage conference room scheduling and organize all aspects of meetings (i.e., virtual meeting interface, set up and break down/clean up)

| Minimum Qualifications: |
Qualified candidates will hold an Associate's degree in a relevant program plus two years of relevant professional experience is necessary, or a Bachelor's degree. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |

- Bachelor's degree.
- Previous legal and administrative support experience.
- Outstanding customer service and attention to details.
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suites, Adobe, Box, Zoom, NetDocuments, and standard office equipment such as a photocopier and scanner.
- Proactive team player with outstanding organizational, time-management, and both oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment and initiative.
- Familiarity with legal technology solutions.
