The Honors Program Coordinator supports the operations of the Honors Program. Under the leadership of the Director of the Honors Program, the Coordinator also creates and implements leadership experiences for Honors Program students, and advises Honors Program students regarding enrichment opportunities.

This is a half-time position scheduled to work approximately 20 hours per week, year-round. This position is scheduled to work Monday through Thursday between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm. A similarly structured but alternate schedule may be considered if an applicant provides their availability in their cover letter with a specific request. The incumbent in this position will normally work a set schedule, but must have some availability to work evenings and weekends when notice is provided in advance, as may be required by program activities and events.

Position Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $21.50 - $22.50. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.

Responsibilities
  • Supports content creation and maintenance of webpages, digital communications, social media, and printed materials for the Honors Program and contributes to marketing, outreach, and promotional efforts through the design and updating of brochures and other materials contributing to the production of the Honors Program newsletter.
  • Assists with coordinating, implementing, and evaluating HP programs, events (on and off-campus), including the all-campus annual Partners in Peace initiative.
  • Attends Honors Program Admission events, as needed.
  • Connects HP students with Elmhurst University departments, resources, and community members in response to student needs.
  • Advises the Elmhurst University Honors Program Student Organization (ECHO) providing training and guidance to members and officers; meets regularly with the student-elected Board.
  • Plans and facilitates the annual overnight retreat for incoming Honors Program students each fall; other overnight events are optional and subject to approval.
  • Coordinates Honors Program service activities each term.
  • Develops and coordinates aspects of the Honors Program Peer Leader Program, including selection and coaching of Leaders.
  • Works closely with Office of Housing and Residence Life for the placements in the Honors Living Learning Community (HLLC) and works with the resident advisor of the community regarding HLLC activities.
  • Collects, reviews, and disseminates data regarding HP functions, and compiles results of assigned assessment instruments for Honors students in their achievement of program goals and outcomes.
  • Assists with the recruitment and supervision of student employees in the Honors Program.
  • Assists Director and Associate Director with event planning as needed.

  • Supports the University's mission, vision and values.
  • When feasible and appropriate and with the guidance of the Director of the Honors Program, develops and implements programs and initiatives which serve the mission of the Honors Program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least two years of experience working in higher education.
  • Highly skilled at multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks as dictated by deadlines and importance.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work some evening and weekend events, as assigned.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite software, survey software, and assessment software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Familiarity with nationally recognized Honors Programs/Colleges.
  • U.S. driver's license for 3+ years.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
