Primary Purpose: The Senior Manager Employee Relations (ER) is responsible for managing and executing ER processes in accordance with Tapestry's values-driven, people-centered mission and objectives. The ER professional is responsible for conducting prompt, thorough, and impartial workplace investigations; managing complex employee relations cases; providing consultation and guidance to cross-functional partners and the business; and tracking, analyzing, and reporting employee relations data and trends. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Legal, and business leaders to identify risk, ensure consistent application of policies and processes, and promote a respectful and compliant workplace. The position is based in our New York City headquarters (hybrid: 3 days/week in office, Tues-Thurs) and reports to the Director, Head of Employee Relations.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Employee Relations to:

  • Sensitively and skillfully manage resolution of ER issues
  • Manage and conduct complex and escalated investigations involving alleged discrimination, harassment, hostile work environment, retaliation, workplace violence, and complex performance/policy violations.
  • Ensure investigations are conducted timely, thoroughly, and objectively
  • Independently plan investigations, including scoping allegations and identifying applicable policies and law, conducting interviews, reviewing evidence, and assessing credibility
  • Maintain organized, defensible investigation files that document findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Manage multiple cases while meeting timelines and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to HR Partners and business leaders on ER issues, policy interpretation, conflict management, and risk mitigation
  • Partner to execute involuntary terminations
  • Creating preventative action plans by proactively spotting issues
  • Support responses to emergencies and critical incidents
  • Support ER's reasonable accommodations process for employees and applicants, including supporting the interactive process under ADA and associated federal, state, and local laws
  • Support training initiatives related to investigations, respectful workplace environments, and accommodations.
  • Compliance and reporting
  • Support the tracking and reporting of complaints and outcomes, time from case initiation to resolution, concentration of repeated issues, and accommodation request trends
  • Identify patterns, emerging risks, systemic issues, and recommend proactive remedial measures and policy enhancements
  • Support audits, internal reviews, and responses to agency inquiries or litigation holds.
  • Monitor new and updated federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and regulations
  • Participate in policy review and updates

The accomplished individual will possess...

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years' experience in human resources, employee relations, or investigative field, corporate and retail industry experience preferred and have the ability for 10% Travel.
  • Knowledge of employee relations, workplace investigations, and HR and Legal compliance
  • Demonstrated experience conducting complex, sensitive investigations
  • Working knowledge of employment laws relating to discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and reasonable accommodations
  • Aptitude in producing reports and summaries with strong written and verbal communication; crisp, defensible documentation
  • Coaching and counseling skills
  • Strong communication, collaboration and customer focus
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities; project management proficiency
  • Critical thinking, judgement and ability to work through ambiguity
  • Proficiency in use of HRIS systems and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Internet
  • Available to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the retail clients across various time zones (including handling critical calls if needed when stores are open weeknights and weekends)
