The University of Missouri Kansas City Counseling Services

The Counseling Services Team, also called Roo Wellness, provides a full range of psychological, crisis and risk consultation, substance abuse prevention, and outreach initiatives to our campus community. The office also serves as a nationally accredited training program through the American Psychological Association, providing training for doctoral interns in the field of counseling and clinical psychology.

Job Description

The University of Missouri Kansas City Counseling Services is looking to hire qualified candidates for a Psychologist role. This position will be responsible for the general duties described below.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Identify and schedule the types of groups needed to support the mental health needs of our student population and service delivery model of our center.
  • Provide process and psycho-educational group therapy services.
  • Provides individual therapy, crisis intervention, clinical supervision, outreach, and consultation services to the university community.
  • Provides clinical services to diverse client populations and whose clinical work, supervision, and community intervention is infused with ethical and multicultural competency and who demonstrate clear interest and commitment to all dimensions of diversity.
  • Service provision includes face-to-face and tele-health psycho therapeutic services to our community.
  • Evidence of strong generalist clinical skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in assessment and intervention with a range of clinical issues and complex diagnostic concerns.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developmental issues of college students and commitment to student success.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills demonstrated in speaking, listening, and writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in developing outreach education programming.
  • Consults with faculty and staff regarding student problems, training, program and organizational issues.
  • Represents Counseling Services on University committees and participates in the Division of Student Affairs programs as assigned.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegiality and collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments, and student organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

  • This is an on-site position with typical office hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm.
  • This position requires some evening and weekend hours.
  • Full Time, 40 hours per week
Minimum Qualifications

  • A Doctorate degree in Clinical or counseling Psychology is required.
  • Successful completion of an APA-accredited internship is required.
  • Licensed as a psychologist in Missouri or obtain licensure within 12 months of hire date.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Active full licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Missouri
  • Active full licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Kansas
  • Experience working with college-age students
  • Experience working in a university or college setting
  • Clinical Supervisory experience of Master's and/or Doctoral level trainees / interns
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as up to $85,000 per year.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
