Description

STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS



  • Currently enrolled in Junior or Senior year of high school


  • 16 or 17 years old


  • Enrolled in a qualified Career and Technical Education class


  • Passing grades, no excessive absenteeism at school. Students will provide IFG with grades and attendance documentation upon request.


  • Summer Schedule: Available to work 30-40 hours per week, including weekends


  • School year schedule: Available to work after school and weekends (not to exceed 20 hours/week)


  • Approval of parents to participate through signed agreement


  • Reliable transportation to/from work


  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.



APTITUDE EXPECTATIONS



  • Follow Safety / Lock Out Tag Out policies and procedures


  • Mechanically inclined


  • Knowledge of basic hand tools (metric and standard)


  • Ability to stay on task


  • Motivated to learn (asks questions, self-starter)


  • Follows instructions


  • Communicates with mentor/supervisor and teacher/counselor any questions/problems/issues that arise


PHYSICAL DEMANDS- Production

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

Bend at waist - frequent

Twist upper body - frequent

Stoop - occasional

Lift above waist height - frequent depending on machine center

Lift over 50 lbs. - frequent depending on machine center

Repetitive use of hands - constant

Stand/walk - constant

Sit - occasional

Vision - near and far correctable; depth perception

Hearing - preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
