LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, DAVIDSON COUNTY Qualifications Education and Experience: Current registration as an active status Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission of Dietetic Registration and experience equivalent to one year of professional nutrition work is preferred. Necessary Special Qualifications: Possession of proof of registration in an active status as a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission of Dietetic Registration is required at time of appointment and must be maintained during employment in the Nutritionist 2 job classification. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required. Overview Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) is seeking a Nutritionist 2 to serve as the Mid-Cumberland Regional Breastfeeding Coordinator based in Nashville, TN. The Regional Breastfeeding Coordinator will collaborate closely with the WIC (Women, Infants, Children) regional team to support 16 WIC clinics operated by 12 local county health departments across the Middle Tennessee area. The complete WIC regional team includes a WIC Director, Nutrition Director, Vendor Coordinator, and Breastfeeding Coordinator. The Mid Cumberland WIC program serves an average of ~20,000 participants monthly, providing essential nutrition and breastfeeding education to eligible women, infants, and children. WIC families receive monthly nutritional and supplemental food packages. Recently, the Mid Cumberland Region reported 1,791reastfeeding women receiving benefits. The Breastfeeding Coordinator is responsible for supporting WIC staff and clinics to maintain and improve breastfeeding rates across the region.
