Job Purpose

Promote continuous and sustained improvement within US Operations to ensure compliance with all regulations and company safety, construction, and maintenance policies.

Key Accountabilities
  • Work closely and support operations personnel to assure National Grid Standards and Procedures are implemented.
  • Conduct field in-flight work site audits of field personnel, and post construction and maintenance audits in order to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies and procedures
  • Collect, sort, and analyze inspection and audit data in order to identify deficiencies and overall trends and patterns which may adversely impact the quality and safety of operations
  • Provide recommendations and assist in implementing corrective actions and lessons learned in order to improve the quality and safety of National Grid's operations
  • Liaise with Operations, Learning and Development, Engineering, and Corporate Safety organizations in order to build capabilities and support campaigns and programs that promote safety and quality awareness
  • Conceptual thinking: Sees patterns or trends in safety and compliance audit data, notices when deficiencies are similar to past situations
  • Promote the philosophy of safe team working and development in order to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance
  • Promotes teamwork and collaborate among stakeholder groups
  • Respond to and provide necessary support during local/system emergencies
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering discipline (or a related technical discipline) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years field experience in Electrical Substations, Distribution, or Transmission line construction and maintenance or equivalent is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to develop, maintain and manage relationships at all levels within the Company.
  • Strong knowledge of work and safety rules, work methods, standard operating procedures and regulations is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must, as are excellent observation and documentation abilities and a high degree of personal integrity. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, confident, efficient, decisive and committed to a strong and consistent quality assurance program.
  • Working knowledge of personal computer applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.) Specialized quality-related certification in Six Sigma and Tap Root methodologies for project analysis and incident investigation analysis is required.
  • Cross-regional travel for the performance of departmental duties is required and will encompass a minimum of 25% of the Specialist's annual duties is required.

Salary:
$118,000 - $$138,000 per year
