THE POSITION

Join the Department of Education as a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor and help shape the future of health care training in Pennsylvania. This position supports high quality nurse aide education by working directly with training providers across the Commonwealth. You will help maintain the quality and safety of long-term care by guiding program operators and ensuring that training meets important standards. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps ensure a skilled and well-supported health care workforce through strong nurse aide training programs across the state. As a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • On-Site Reviews: Conduct on-site evaluations of nurse aide training programs using approved federal and state monitoring tools
  • Curriculum Support: Review and support the approval process for nurse aide training program curricula submitted by local providers
  • Technical Assistance: Provide guidance to training program operators throughout the Commonwealth as needs arise
  • Program Approval: Examine applications for new nurse aide training programs, perform facility inspections, and prepare follow-up communications
  • Data Maintenance: Manage databases and files for nurse aide training and competency evaluation program providers
  • Collaboration: Work with quality assurance partners to identify and resolve issues related to training and competency requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional career and technical education experience in the area of the parenthetical including one year of experience developing and implementing specialized career and technical education curricula or programs; or
  • An equivalent combination of professional career and technical education experience and training in the area of the parenthetical, which includes one year of professional experience developing and implementing specialized career and technical education curricula or programs.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
