DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will play a key part in maintaining Commonwealth buildings by performing skilled tasks across several trades. Our team will rely on your skills and experience to help ensure that facilities remain safe, efficient, and well maintained. In this role, you will perform the following duties:

  • Team and Solo Projects: Estimate parts, material, and supplies for assigned projects; determine the proper tools, equipment, and course of action required for each assignment; assist more experienced trades professionals with complex projects
  • General Maintenance and Carpentry: Repair small motorized tools and report major issues to the supervisor; complete repairs and alterations to building structures, fixtures, and furnishings
  • Painting: Prepare surfaces and apply paints, varnishes, and stains
  • Plumbing Support: Repair drains, faucets, and other plumbing components and respond to leaks
  • Electrical Assistance: Assist with replacing light fixtures, participate in monthly tests of emergency lighting
  • Facility Upkeep: Monitor building conditions, report discrepancies, and assist with cleaning and snow removal

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Note: This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
