TheCorporate Litigation Counsel manages the company's litigation matters under the direction of the SVP Legal. This attorney will be responsiblefor internal management of cases and oversight of outside counsel, minimizing legal risks, and providingstrategic advice to internal stakeholders . Handles a portfolio of disputes (often coordinating with outsidecounsel), conducts early case assessments, supports discovery and settlement negotiations, and collaboratescross-functionally to align legal strategy with business objectives. The role emphasizes cost-effective litigationmanagement, compliance, and proactive risk mitigation in a fast-paced corporate environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Under the direction of SVP of Legal, serves as key in-house attorney for management of the Company's litigationportfolio, including management of outside litigation, pre-suit matters, lawsuits; settlements, mediation, orbringing cases to trial;
- Manages and oversees litigation matters, including commercial disputes, employment cases, contract claims,regulatory investigations, and other adversarial proceedings.
- Conducts early case assessments, develops litigation strategies, and provides risk evaluations (including costprojections and settlement recommendations) to senior leadership.
- Coordinates with and supervises outside counsel on pleadings, discovery, motions, depositions, trials, andappeals; manage budgets and ensure efficient handling of matters.
- Drafts, reviews, and negotiates pleadings, discovery responses, settlement agreements, and other litigationrelateddocuments.
- Advises internal stakeholders (e.g., business units, HR, compliance, executives) on litigation risks, disputeresolution, and preventive strategies.
- Supports document preservation, e-discovery processes, and records management policies.
- Monitors and analyzes developments in relevant laws and regulations; provide training and updates to thebusiness as needed.
- Assists with pre-litigation disputes, ADR (mediation/arbitration), and internal investigations.
- Collaborates on broader legal department initiatives, such as contract review, compliance programs, or policydevelopment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Education & Experience:
- JD from an accredited US Law School Required
- Active member in good standing of the bar of Florida or reciprocaljurisdictionRequired
- 7 years in-house or law firm litigation experience Required
- 10 years professional legal experience as an attorney in the healthcare industry. Preferred
- 7 + years litigation/trial experience Required
- Previous experience in healthcare and knowledge of DME industry Preferred
