Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $154968 - $205332.6. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Facilities? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our facilities function. The Senior Manager - Facilities & Process Engineering, performs a pivotal role engineering and executing strategic improvements for S&C. The position entails responsibility for oversight and managing engineering, construction, and improvements of facilities and production processes, leading initiatives to achieve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC). The Sr. Manager - Facilities & Process Engineering focuses on the planning and execution of improvement strategies designed to increase growth of the company, reliability and performance of the process systems and equipment, enabling the smooth running of process support systems and operations, engagement initiatives, driving strategic problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives and reporting out to executive leadership on results and enacting countermeasures when targets are missed. This is a gateway opportunity leading to an advanced role in Facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Deployment: Lead the management of large and small facilities and process projects strategically aligned to corporate initiatives. Cascade strategies to develop short and long-term tactical plans for the department in line with company overall business objectives. Lead the day-to-day operations of activities within the department and span of control, ensuring the timely and cost-effective deliverables and KPIs.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage capital and expense budgets ensuring accuracy and appropriate allocation of resources to maximize ROI and the achievement of departmental strategies and objectives. Approve expenditures for the achievement of operational goals including equipment, materials and maintenance.
  • Facilities and Process Engineering: Manage engineering projects, directly collaborate with operations and maintenance, quality and LPS leaders, internal and external customers, contractors and consultants to initiate, follow through with, and bring to realization the strategies, methods, and goals for the department. Plan and coordinate department/project schedules to ensure crisp execution of initiatives through capital and expense projects and large-scale maintenance programs. Establish a balance between performance, execution and cost of manufacturing operations. Grow skill sets of team broad and deep over time.
  • Lean Performance Systems: Develop new processes and standards in support of the departments strategy. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and increase overall operational effectiveness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks in processes. Serve as a change agent by influencing, communicating and institutionalizing a culture of continuous improvement, simplification, standard work, process improvement and lean principles.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Promote safety awareness and housekeeping and investigating and reporting on safety incidents. Maintain and promote a safety conscious manufacturing environment. Enforce health and safety policies and procedures to create a safe working environment for all employees. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to production operations.
  • Reporting: Analyze reports and reviews by operations and engineering. Communicate regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production. Report issues regarding projects, quality, maintenance, or personnel problems to senior and executive leadership.
  • Leadership & People Management: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team (internally and externally). Act as a role model with appropriate and professional workplace behaviors, address/mediate conflicts to restore harmony, support a positive, healthy and inclusive workplace culture in accordance with S&C's mission, vision, values and guiding principles. Manage departmental administrative team member processes including but not limited to recruitment, induction, vacation management, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and workforce/succession planning. Proactively establish, monitor, and hold team members and outside resources accountable to clear responsibilities and expectations, provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and developmental, address performance gaps in a timely manner, recognize and reward achievements, and initiate decisions for corrective actions and terminations where required. Foster a culture that supports the growth and development of team members and proactively train, mentor and coach team members.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with applicable AHJ code requirements in engineering and construction, OSHA and insurance requirements, company policies and rules

What you'll Need To Succeed:

  • Engineering degree in a related technical discipline
  • 10 years of experience in engineering and related maintenance-reliability operations and other related fields within a design engineering & construction/production equipment/facilities/process environment, including a leadership experience at Manager level/above.
  • Demonstrated track record of facilities and engineering leadership, sustained improvements, and KPI attainment
  • Strong leadership skills to act with urgency, lead, guide, develop, motivate and delegate to deliver results
  • Solid critical thinking, organizational, planning and project management skills, creative problem-solving when obstacles arise
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience
  • Excellent communication skills, (written, verbal, listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from leadership to support staff, and present influentially to achieve buy-in from executives, managers and team members
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, problem-solve difficult issues and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement
  • Proven success partnering across teams, creating effective partnerships at all levels and collaborating at an operational level
  • Adapts to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively and finds ways to get things accomplished, even when faced with challenges
  • Technical knowledge related to:
    • Engineering, construction, site development, utilities, architectural-structural-mechanical-electrical-plumbing-fire protection, construction management, life safety, controls, diagnoses & troubleshooting, automation systems & PLC controls, robots, vision systems, commissioning, plant-wide electrical and mechanical infrastructure, rigging, conveyors; process systems including painting, electroplating, phosphating ovens, molding, compounding & blending, vacuum systems, air and water systems, hydraulic systems; low voltage structured cabling including fire alarm, video surveillance, network infrastructure, access control; Scope and design basis development, municipal permitting and zoning processes, code requirements, cost estimating, setting of scope-schedule-budget, lean, 5S, Job Relations.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in engineering, Business Administration
  • Professional Engineer licensure
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using CAD design, management software Oracle HCM and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project)
