Automotive Service Tools & Dealer Equipment Specialist (Contract)

Location: Fountain Valley, CA

Pay Rate: $44.50 - $47.50/hr.

Position Type: Temporary Contract

We are seeking a detail-oriented Automotive Service Tools & Dealer Equipment Specialist to support OEM service tool programs for Hyundai, Genesis, and IONIQ dealerships. This role focuses on evaluating, testing, tracking, and managing special service tools (SST), dealer equipment, and EV-related service solutions used across national dealer networks.

Key Responsibilities



  • Support development and evaluation of special service tools and dealer equipment
  • Test-fit, inspect, and validate tools and equipment on vehicles for performance and usability
  • Provide daily support via phone and email to dealers, technicians, field staff, and internal teams
  • Track tool inventory, backorders, shipments, and lead times to prevent shortages
  • Create and maintain Excel-based reports for forecasting, inventory, and tool lifecycle management
  • Analyze tool returns, depreciation, and performance using financial and operational data
  • Manage loaner tools and maintain accurate tracking systems for dealer distribution
  • Assist in supplier selection, benchmarking, and performance evaluation
  • Support EV charging, fuel cell tools, and service equipment initiatives
  • Prepare summaries, reports, and documentation for leadership review



Qualifications



  • Experience in automotive service tools, dealer equipment, or technical support preferred
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office/365 skills required (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to analyze data and manage inventory or supply chain reporting
  • Strong communication skills with ability to support technical and non-technical users
  • Ability to test, handle, and evaluate automotive tools and equipment
  • Travel up to 25% required
  • Must be able to work onsite 5 days per week (flexible start time 7:00-9:00 AM)
