Department Information

Georgia Tech Human Resources (GTHR) serves the Institute and its more than 14,000 employees through strategic counsel, employee engagement, and essential human capital management operations. As the people's unit, GTHR is engaged throughout the employee's lifetime at Georgia Tech. Our team works with sensitive employee information and assists in the management of complex employee issues. Professionalism and confidence are of the utmost importance within our team.

What we do:
  • Process payroll and maintain employment data for approximately 14,000 active faculty, staff, and students
  • Strive to attract, recruit, and retain the best talent in the marketplace.
  • Provide immigration, labor, and tax support required for foreign national faculty and staff to work at Georgia Tech and support employees performing services overseas.
  • Leverage a market-driven compensation structure to attract and retain employees.
  • Advise employees and managers regarding work performance and conflict management.
Job Summary

The Organizational Design Consultant serves as a strategic partner and advisor to Institute leadership, business leaders, and campus HR partners, translating complex business problems into clear solutions and actionable plans. This role will provide guidance to departments in structuring their teams, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with strategic goals.
Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Analyze current organizational structures, develop and recommend design improvements, and support the implementation of new structures and processes.

Job Duty 2 -
Build self-sustaining relationships with business leaders, HR campus partners, and interested campus departments.

Job Duty 3 -
Develop and facilitate workshops, training, and communication efforts to support strengthening of Institute-wide organizational design literacy and practitioner understanding of GT leading practice.

Job Duty 4 -
Analyze data and develop reports to understand the current state and options, and recommend a future state for organizational design clients.

Job Duty 5 -
Hold annual health check meetings with HR Partners and Institute leaders to discuss organizational design plans.

Job Duty 6 -
Ensure alignment of organizational design efforts across the Institute with the Institute's Strategic Plan and unit-level strategy.

Job Duty 7 -
Design, develop, and conduct training programs and workshops for business leaders and campus HR partners.

Job Duty 8 -
Create, manage, update, and implement tools, guidance documents, communication plans, templates, and other resources for business leaders and campus partners.
Job Duty 9 -
Leverage industry models, tools, and processes to improve organizational effectiveness, including organization structures, roles and responsibilities, job redesign, and job descriptions.

Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent, with related experience.

Required Experience
6+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in a related discipline or equivalent, with related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience operating in an internal consulting or advisory capacity, with a track record of supporting initiatives related to organizational design, organizational development, organizational effectiveness, change management, and/or talent strategy.
  • Strong understanding of Georgia Tech's institutional context, including the higher education environment, governance structures, funding models, and HR processes.
  • Proven ability to diagnose organizational challenges beyond structural considerations, such as roles, decision rights, capacity, and cross-functional interfaces, and to guide leaders in clearly defining the problems they are trying to solve before recommending solutions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and a strong sense of accountability for outcomes.
Proposed Salary

Pay Range: $83,659-$100,00/yr.
