Position Summary
The Research Specialist will become familiar with all aspects of working in the Pathology Services Core. They will perform both routine and non-routine histology testing including all aspects of Histotechnology. They will work with the client, when necessary, on the details of their project to maximize the amount of information obtained from the histology. The specialist will assist in the research and development of new methods and tasks. The individual may be required to train and assist in the techniques of immunohistochemistry.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Management Preferences
* Histology or general laboratory experience is required includes embedding, microtome sectioning, H&E and special staining.
* Familiarity with animal physiology and tissue identification is also preferred.
* Exposure to digital pathology systems, slide scanning, or image analysis platforms.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain high-quality standards, including attention to detail, QC practices, and documentation in a laboratory setting.
* Experience working in a collaborative research, core facility, or multi-user laboratory environment with competing priorities.
