This is a 100% Contract position for 1 year with the possibility of extension. The University of California San Diego is seeking qualified applicants for a Basketball Performance Coach. UC San Diego will transition its primary conference affiliation to the West Coast Conference beginning in the fall of 2027. The Basketball Performance Coach will provide strong leadership within the Triton Performance 360 model. The primary responsibility for this Performance Coach role is for Men's Basketball. Key functions of the role include but not limited to the following: Lead - Influential leadership of the Strength and Conditioning/Sport Science Program for Basketball; lead the Scholar-Athletes to ensure education and understanding of the Basketball S&C program and supporting Sport Science system to develop high ownership and accountability to program standards; lead, educate, and support the coaches, and health and performance staff to develop high-level program integration in-line with the Triton Performance 360 model; and lead through personal and professional connection and collaboration with all those servicing Basketball and the broader Triton Athletics community. Coach - Strong and adaptable coaching skills across the various aspects of a Basketball S&C program including individual scholar-athlete needs. Program - Strong foundation of programming capability from annual planning and periodization to individual daily plans; from programming for the incoming Freshman through to return-to-play considerations for the Super-Senior. Assess - Strong capability to utilize contemporary performance technologies in combination with qualitative analysis where appropriate for movement screening, periodic testing, and daily monitoring of Basketball scholar-athletes to ensure optimal preparation, performance, and injury risk mitigation. Analyze - Implement and evolve sport science systems to deliver a data-informed evidence-based methodology across all aspects of the Basketball S&C program. Innovate - Integral member and contributor to the Triton Athletics Research Program to advance knowledge and understanding of scholar-athlete Health and Performance. Proactive in own professional development and continued learning. Draw on internal and external knowledge resources to continually challenge current methods to ensure competitive advantage for UCSD Triton Athletics.
