As a Chemist, you will lead new developments in polymeric materials for Aerospace Transparencies. You will use their experiences to build new developments to expand PPG's Aerospace Transparency capabilities. Develop new materials, substitute materials, and new processes for use in transparency manufacturing and operations. Provide subject domain expertise on materials and processes failures. Implement multiple technology developments from development, scale-up and support in manufacturing Perform experiments to develop new products for urethanes, polymers, composites and other business-driven needs. Create material and application process specifications. Communicate technical advice to internal and external Customers. Remain current on new developments in the appropriate scientific fields. Provide leadership on root cause analysis for production issues encountered in scale-up and manufacturing of products in subject domain. Work with team members having different locations and backgrounds. Show good record keeping methods and submit reports in a reasonable time period. Use tools for tasks. For example, utilize: DOE, Capability Analysis, ANOVA to problem solve or improve development. Introduce improvements and product development alone or with teams with a potential benefit to company. Active participation in 6S (organization and safety) activities. Follow all procedures and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Only US Citizens, Green Card holders, political asylees, or refugees are eligible to apply. Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or equivalent. 1+ years experience with transparent materials, glass, ceramics, forming and characterization. Experience with resin formulation development and launch or publication Composite resin chemistry development and launch or publication Communicate with a broad audience, including: technical, management, and production
