Job Summary

This role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on provider enrollment in federal and state health care programs. As an independent working supervisor, supervise provider enrollment analysts in preparing, submitting and tracking enrollment applications for UC Davis Health providers and facilities. Provide guidance and training to analysts and UC Davis Health staff as needed. This position is also responsible for creating Bill Areas in Epic and as such, requires Epic Certification.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • 1 or more Epic certification
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience or training
  • 5 or more years experience in a health system's provider enrollment unit.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Extensive experience accessing and utilizing government applications related to provider enrollment including NPPES, PECOS, and PAVE.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State health programs provider enrollment requirements for individual practitioners, medical groups, facilities and other entities such as hospice and home health.
  • Knowledge of different components within an academic health system, including but not limited to a medical center, a school of medicine, primary care clinics, hospice and home health.
  • Ability to reason logically and perceive an impact on others and interdependencies between systems, operations, and procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in working with committees and facilitating group decision-making and conflict resolution.
  • Advanced knowledge of and demonstrated skill with various spreadsheet and software applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor the communication to fit the needs of the audience.
  • Advanced knowledge of external sources of demographic, financial, payor/provider information, and utilization data.
  • Ability to analyze diverse information qualitatively and prepare analysis reports.
  • Computer expertise sufficient to design software for business operations and record retention.
  • Organizational skills to independently prioritize workload and meet deadlines, develop and carry out project assignments efficiently and timely, and provide accurate and concise documentation of activities.
  • Ability to react with flexibility, patience and maintain efficiency and accuracy under sustained immediate pressure created by a heavy workload, frequent interruptions, and multiple requests
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government payor provider enrollment personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience training staff on government payor provider enrollment process and utilization of online enrollment portals.
  • Experience interacting with all levels of management and health care providers.
  • Experience working with Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and California Department of Health Care Services provider enrollment units to resolve any provider enrollment issues.
  • Extensive experience in Epic functions related to new or established provider billing including Bill Areas, DEP, PAT and SER.

The primary goal of the Government Reimbursement Department's Provider Enrollment and Management Team is to ensure compliance with governmental health care programs' enrollment requirements, thereby, enabling UC Davis Health to bill and be reimbursed for services rendered.
