DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accounting Assistant with the Department of Corrections, you will be essential in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the inmate population at your assigned institution. Your responsibilities will involve entering accounting information into ledgers and journals, generating daily and monthly financial reports, managing inmate releases and transfers, and addressing any discrepancies in accounts. Additionally, you will respond to inquiries about inmate accounts, prepare summaries, type memos, return phone calls, and input transactions into QuickBooks to ensure efficient financial operations. - Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
- An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful Completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
