The Finance Manager is a hands-on finance professional who manages the day-to-day execution of core accounting and finance functions at South Lake Pediatrics. This role has responsibility for accounts payable, cash management, financial reporting, and Business Office oversight. The Finance Manager ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes while contributing to a positive clinic environment.

This is an individual contributor role with management responsibility over the Business Office. The ideal candidate brings healthcare finance experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in an independent practice setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee Business Office, including coding, billing, collections, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Monitor day-to-day reimbursement activity and assist the Supervisor with escalated discrepancies or payer issues.
  • Support clinician coding education initiatives.
  • Monitor payer contracts and support contract compliance efforts.
  • Support updates to the organization's fee schedule and assist in optimizing reimbursement across payer mix.
  • Support annual budget preparation, including departmental input, and variance analysis.
  • Assist in developing short- and long-term financial objectives aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for review by the executive leadership team.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations; review and process check and ACH payments.
  • Partner with Accounts Specialist to manage vendor payments and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage monthly cost allocations for financial reporting.
  • Execute year-end processes and annual filings (MNCare, Sales & Use, Franchise, and unclaimed property).
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations.
  • Monitor insurance coverage for property/casualty, management liability, and medical malpractice.
  • Uphold purchasing policies and procedures; maintain vendor relationships to ensure cost efficiency, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Assist Director of HR in administering compensation packages for physicians and nurse practitioners, including incentive calculations and reconciliations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Education / Credentials / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA a plus.
  • 4-6 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting.
  • Healthcare finance experience preferred; familiarity with physician practice billing, payer contracts, and reimbursement models is a plus.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting budget development and financial analysis.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or equivalent accounting platform) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to translate financial information clearly for non-finance stakeholders
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to build positive working relationships across clinical and administrative staff.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced, independent practice environment.
  • Familiarity with applicable financial regulations and healthcare compliance requirements.
Work Location: In person, Minnetonka, MN.
