The Opportunity:

Mattel is seeking a Development Program Management Associate II - Color in El Segundo, CA. This role supports the execution of product development programs with a focus on standardizing how color is defined, managed, and executed across Design, Development, and Manufacturing. The position plays a key role in ensuring that color libraries, specifications, and workflows are consistently applied across projects, helping improve efficiency, reduce iteration, and support scalable product development. This role is a program management position with a specialized focus, not a color engineering role.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Establish color-related workflows and ensure they are followed consistently and that information is complete, organized, and accessible
  • Support multiple product development programs by ensuring color requirements and specifications are clearly defined and communicated from early concept through production
  • Work closely with Design and Development teams to facilitate early decisions on color selection, reuse, and feasibility
  • Coordinate with overseas development, tooling, and manufacturing teams, including travel to Asia, to ensure accurate execution of color intent
  • Track and manage color-related deliverables, approvals, and risks within program schedules
  • Ensure color-related activities align with overall program timelines and support on-time product delivery
  • Act as a liaison between El Segundo teams and overseas partners to support clear communication of color intent and requirements
  • Review samples and help identify issues related to color consistency, manufacturability, and quality, escalating when needed
  • Support resolution of color-related issues by coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and driving timely closure
  • Support decision-making by organizing and presenting clear color-related information, options, and risks to cross-functional teams
  • Own color-related workstreams within assigned programs, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and meet program requirements
  • Contribute to improving processes and tools that support efficient and repeatable color execution across programs

What We're Looking For:

  • BA/BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial) or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in program management, product development, or manufacturing environments
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, make decisions, and solve problems effectively
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Comfortable working with global cross-functional teams, including overseas partners
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across Design, Development, and Manufacturing teams
  • Comfortable working with systems, data, and structured workflows
  • Ability to identify issues, escalate appropriately, and support resolution
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technical domains and apply them in a program context
  • Willingness to travel internationally, including to Asia manufacturing locations

Preferred:

  • Experience in consumer products or product development
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes such as plastics, coatings, or assembly
  • Experience working with overseas manufacturing teams or suppliers
  • Interest in color, materials, and product appearance
