SUMMARY

Ajax Building Company, a member of STO Building Group, is seeking a Vice President of Mission Critical Construction to lead and expand our Mission Critical sector across the Southeast (Georgia/Carolinas preferred).

This executive leader will be responsible for driving growth, developing strategic client relationships, and overseeing the successful delivery of complex mission critical projects-primarily within the data center market. The VP will partner closely with Business Development and Operations leadership to secure new work, build high-performing teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, at the highest quality, and with strong financial performance.

This role is instrumental in shaping the long-term strategy of the Mission Critical business while mentoring and developing the next generation of leaders within the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the strategic growth and operational execution of the Mission Critical sector, with a strong emphasis on data center construction
  • Develop and execute business plans, including revenue targets, client development strategies, and market expansion initiatives
  • Partner with Business Development to identify, pursue, and secure new opportunities; actively participate in pursuits, presentations, and client engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, developers, and industry partners to drive repeat business
  • Provide executive oversight of multiple large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives
  • Establish and monitor financial performance across the division, including project budgets, forecasts, and profitability metrics
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project executives, project managers, and field leadership; foster a high-performance, accountability-driven culture
  • Collaborate with Regional Leadership to align sector goals with broader company strategy and operational priorities
  • Ensure effective coordination between operations, preconstruction, and commissioning teams
  • Oversee commissioning strategies and execution, ensuring seamless turnover and operational readiness for mission critical facilities
  • Monitor project risk and proactively address issues that may impact schedule, cost, or client satisfaction
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives, policies, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Represent Ajax in industry forums, client meetings, and leadership discussions to enhance market presence and brand reputation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 20+ years of construction experience, with significant leadership experience overseeing multiple large-scale projects or programs
  • 10+ years of direct Mission Critical / data center experience, including commissioning, start-up, and operations
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, high-value mission critical projects
  • Strong business acumen with experience managing P&L, budgets, and financial performance
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams across multiple locations
  • Deep understanding of MEP systems, commissioning processes, and critical systems infrastructure
  • Experience with commissioning platforms (e.g., CxAlloy, Nexus) is a plus
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
