Engineering Specialist - Gear Lab Development

Location: Dearborn, MI (Onsite)

Pay: $42.31/hour

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Specialist to support gear lab development and manufacturing process engineering in a high-performance environment. This role focuses on gear machining, process improvement, and quality optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support manufacturing process development and continuous improvement initiatives
• Apply engineering principles to improve safety, quality, and productivity
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions (8D, 5 Why, DMAIC)
• Conduct process audits and ensure adherence to drivetrain standards
• Develop process documentation and work instructions
• Support gear machining processes including milling, hobbing, grinding, and lapping
• Analyze heat treatment, distortion, and material performance
• Validate CMM inspection setups and measurement systems
• Perform data analysis and reporting to support development activities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or gear development
• Experience with hypoid bevel gear processes or data analytics
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

Preferred:

• Experience with Gleason or Klingenberg systems
• Knowledge of FMEA, PPAP, DOE, and Six Sigma methodologies
• Background in gear grinding, lapping, and heat treatment processes
