Core Knowledge & Skills: Manages routing/switching and network security, multiOS environments, virtualization (e.g., VMware/HyperV), core cloud services, and release of IaC via pipelines; automates common admin tasks. Work & Complexity: Plans and executes upgrades/migrations, configures network devices and services, responds to incidents, monitors performance, and manages resources. Quality & Independence: Implements proactive monitoring, produces accurate documentation, improves processes, and works independently within project scope. Teamwork & Communication: Partners with peer teams, shares knowledge, coordinates changes, reports progress, and supports/train users. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Cloud Engineer.
We are seeking a mid-senior Microsoft 365 Engineer with deep experience in Microsoft Purview, eDiscovery, and Microsoft 365 compliance technologies to support the design, implementation, and administration of enterprise information governance, records management, data lifecycle, and legal discovery capabilities.
This role will be responsible for engineering and operating solutions across the Microsoft Purview compliance portal, with emphasis on eDiscovery (Standard and Premium), content search, retention, records management, insider risk-adjacent data controls, data loss prevention, sensitivity labeling, and audit-based investigations. The ideal candidate has experience supporting legal, compliance, security, and IT stakeholders in highly regulated environments and can translate governance and discovery requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Perform and support Content Search, Audit, and Communication/Collaboration data investigations across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and other supported M365 workloads.
Design and manage retention labels, retention label policies, retention policies, and records management configurations aligned with business, legal, and regulatory requirements.
Configure and support Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies for Microsoft 365 workloads, including tuning, testing, and operational troubleshooting.
Assist legal, compliance, and information governance teams with preservation, collection, defensibility, and chain-of-custody-oriented processes within Microsoft 365 tooling.
Collaborate with security, messaging, collaboration, and identity teams to ensure Purview solutions align with enterprise architecture and access controls.
Develop operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, governance standards, and technical documentation.
Provide Tier 3 support and troubleshooting for escalated Purview, eDiscovery, retention, and compliance policy issues.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, Legal Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Direct experience supporting Microsoft eDiscovery, including legal holds, content searches, case management, and data exports.
Experience troubleshooting policy application, search scoping, permissions issues, and content discovery challenges in M365.
Experience with eDiscovery Premium review workflows, collections, analytics, and review set preparation.
Experience implementing auto-labeling, trainable classifiers, sensitive information types, or advanced classification/governance controls.
Experience in regulated environments such as defense, government, healthcare, financial services, or other compliance-intensive sectors.
Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks related to records retention, defensible deletion, privacy, or litigation readiness.
Experience integrating Purview governance with broader Microsoft 365 security controls, including Entra ID, Defender, and access governance.
At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $89,000-$134,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
