Job Description

Position Summary:

The Quality Engineer Manager is a working supervisor responsible for leading and coordinating quality engineering activities to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. This position supervises Quality Engineers, Certification Clerks, and visual inspectors while actively supporting and executing quality engineering functions related to product realization, continuous improvement, customer interfaces, and quality system effectiveness. The Quality Engineer Manager serves as a key technical and leadership link between the Quality Director and Quality staff.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Other duties may be assigned. In performing functions, duties, or tasks, employees are required to follow safe work practices and comply with Company policies and procedures related to job safety, ethics, and quality.

  • Manges and coordinates the daily activities of Quality Engineers, Certification Clerks, and visual inspectors to ensure effective execution of quality responsibilities.
  • Provides technical direction, mentoring, training, and performance feedback to staff.
  • Supports the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (AS9100, NADCAP, customerspecific requirements).
  • Acts as a primary escalation point for quality engineering issues, including complex nonconformances, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
  • Leads and supports internal, customer, and thirdparty audits and ensures timely corrective action closure.
  • Oversees engineering support for nonconforming material disposition (MRB) and ensures consistent application of quality standards.
  • Coordinates quality engineering support for process changes, product launches, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders regarding quality issues, investigations, and improvement plans.
  • Supports supplier quality activities, including supplier audits, performance monitoring, and corrective action followup.
  • Ensures use of quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5Why, 8D, and control plans to drive process stability and improvement.
  • Reviews and approves quality plans, inspection methods, and engineering documentation.
  • Assists in calibration system oversight and ensures metrology requirements are met.
  • Tracks quality metrics and provides regular status updates to quality and plant leadership.
  • Ensures compliance with customer flowdown requirements during contract and purchase order reviews.
  • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Manager Responsibilities:

Manages Quality Engineers (including Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 engineers), Certification Clerks, and Quality Inspectors (Visual). Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees in accordance with Company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate quality requirements and status to engineers, operators, management, and customers.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide technical staff.
  • Professionalism and Emotional intelligence to mentor and develop staff at all levels
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Ability to apply statistical tools and data analysis techniques to improve processes and product quality.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced manufacturing environment
  • This position involves access to information subject to U.S. government flow-down dissemination control NOFORN (Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals). As a result, U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must hold only U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship or other nationalities permitted

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university required; 5 to 10 years' experience in the aerospace metal working industry (Close & open Die forging preferred) with focus on quality function; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience AS9100D & NADCAP NDT and Heat Treat (AMS2750) documentation and compliance for respective external/internal Audits
  • AS9100D Certified Lead Auditor
  • Certification for SAE AS9145, 8D Problem Solving, Process FMEA, Control Plans , MSA, Process Control, and Human Factors
  • Well versed on metrology CMM, Romer Arm, CAD Models CATIA Solidworks
  • Well versed on GD&T

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $116000 to $174000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 3X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
