Title: CAD ShipConstructor Intern

Location: Metairie

Position Overview: Bollinger is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD ShipConstructor Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Metairie facility. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Engineering or Drafting who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities



  • Interpret Technical Documentation: Review vendor drawings, cut sheets and manufacturer data sheets to extract precise physical dimensions and connection details.
  • Equipment Model Creation: Develop 3D solids in AutoCAD based on vendor specifications to represent specialized shipboard equipment.
  • Attribute Population: Extract and input technical metadata (mass, material grade, COG, etc.) from data sheets into the ShipConstructor Equipment Library.


Qualifications



  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Associates Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or CAD Drafting
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Solid foundation in AutoCAD 2D/3D. Experience with Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus. Familiarity with mechanical piping systems, including various fitting types and connection standards. Basic understanding of marine terminology and ability to read structural engineering drawings.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, high attention to detail, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.


This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in design, allowing students to develop industry-relevant skills, expand their professional network, and contribute meaningfully to Bollinger's Engineering department.
