Title: HSE Trainee

Location: Bollinger Shipyards Lockport LLC

Position Overview: Bollinger is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented HSE Trainee Intern for a full-time, on-site summer internship at our Lockport facility. This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Environmental, Health and Safety Management who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a professional, real-world environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices.

* Observes workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment, i.e., hard hats, safety goggles, steel toe boots, etc. and make sure workers are in compliance with safety rules and procedures.

* Inspects specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.

* Becomes a Shipyard Competent Person (SCP).

* Assists with the investigations of incidents to determine a cause and suggest prevention methods.

* Assists with safety meetings and trainings.

* Maintains training records.

* Will learn and become familiar with the facility safety program.

* Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.

* Other duties assigned or requested by Management.

* Works overtime as required.

* Reports to work daily and on time.

Qualifications



  • Education: Currently a Junior/Senior enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental, Health and Safety Management
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar engineering software is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.


This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in design, allowing students to develop industry-relevant skills, expand their professional network, and contribute meaningfully to Bollinger's HSE department.
