We are seeking a highly skilled Software Systems Engineer to support the PMA-205 program office, delivering advanced software solutions across naval aviation training systems. This role will focus on the design, development, integration, and sustainment of mission-critical software systems that enable training effectiveness, system interoperability, and operational readiness. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience working within DoD acquisition and engineering environments.

Duties:



  • Lead the design, development, testing, and integration of complex software systems supporting aviation training platforms and range systems
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior developers and cross-functional engineering teams
  • Support system architecture development, including interface design, data flow, and integration strategies
  • Develop and maintain software in accordance with DoD, NAVAIR, and industry standards
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and code reviews
  • Perform software verification and validation (V&V), including unit testing, integration testing, and system testing
  • Support DevSecOps implementation, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and secure code practices
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, IPT leads, and external vendors to ensure alignment with program objectives
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Support configuration management, cybersecurity compliance, and documentation efforts


Required Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field


Required Experience:



  • 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, C#)
  • Experience with software architecture, system integration, and full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps practices
  • Experience working in a DoD or NAVAIR environment


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience supporting aviation training systems, simulators, or mission systems
  • Knowledge of DoD 5000 series, NAVAIR processes, and RMF cybersecurity framework
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GovCloud)
  • Familiarity with modeling and simulation (M&S) environments
  • Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Prior experience supporting PMA-205 or similar program offices


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Compensation at Precise Systems is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, competencies, and contract-specific requirements. The salary range for this position is $77,571.36-$150,000.00 (annualized USD). This range represents the standard pay for this role and is just one component of Precise Systems' total compensation package.
