7:00 am - 3:30 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Mandatory Position
This position is designated as 'mandatory' and, when contacted to report to work, its incumbent is expected to reach the building as expeditiously as possible using normal precautions as dictated by the adverse weather conditions. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
This is a Facility Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Trades) at the Advanced level. The position is considered to be a fully functioning in a particular trade area. Additionally, this position is expected to be able to perform all general maintenance work at the Advanced level. This position may also be given the opportunity to perform/learn another trade discipline either at the contributing or journey level. Tasks may include maintenance, repair, placement, fabrication, installation, alteration, construction and design of facility components |

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

| Essential Job Duties |
- Serves as a lead worker and technical expert within a mechanical trade discipline and work unit.
- Guides, directs and coaches Junior technicians regarding troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment.
- Has a thorough and extensive knowledge of refrigeration and commercial HVAC systems.
- Ability to use building automation system (BAS) to troubleshoot and make adjustments to HVAC systems.
- Ability to use computer software for work order management.

| Other Work Responsibilities |
- Acts in a supervisory role if supervisor is on leave.
- Conducts shop training sessions in HVAC subjects.
- Attends meetings as required.

| Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
- Graduation from a technical college with an Associate degree in electromechanical technology, instrumentation technology, science or engineering technology, and four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience, is required
- Associates degree from an accredited institution preferred.
- Experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of HVAC, and refrigeration equipment.
- Ability to act as a lead technician and provide guidance to other technicians.
- Proven track record in facilities preferred.
- Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge and skill with Google E-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs.
- Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork.
