The Maintenance Technician II performs skilled maintenance and repairs to university facilities and equipment in multiple trades areas such as plumbing, electrical, and/or carpentry.

Job Description Typical duties include but are not limited to:
- Performs repairs to buildings, structures and equipment requiring skill in trade functions such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
- Inspects, operates, or tests machinery and equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
- Provides training and guidance to others in areas of skill.
- Assists with routine and preventative repairs and maintenance in other skilled trades such as repair of electrical devices, water leaks, install plumbing fixtures, appliance repair, drywall repair and painting.
- Sets up, breaks down and cleans furniture, equipment and facilities for regular and special events.
- Assists with maintenance projects such as common cleanup, moving furniture, inventory, fire and smoke alarm checks, inspections, or other projects as assigned.
- Maintains records and logs of preventative maintenance and repair history, inventory used, costs, time and other information requested.
- Complies with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, university policy and accepted safe work practices.
- Cleans and maintains all work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Maintains tool and supply inventory. Assists with ordering supplies for the department.
- Works a rotating on-call schedule to respond to emergencies to ensure continuation of service and operations.

Additional Job Description Required Qualifications
- This position requires a high school diploma and four years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
- Full-time related experience in one or more skilled trades such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
- Experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair, ensuring code compliance and efficient operation
- Valid driver's license.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years full-time experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair, ensuring code compliance and efficient operation
- Work experience in higher education or a residential setting.
- Journeyman Plumber license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- General knowledge of building maintenance such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Advanced knowledge in skilled trades such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry.
- Knowledge of basic hand tools, power tools, materials, shop equipment, and maintenance related processes.
- Knowledge of applicable safety requirements.
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
- Ability to set priorities and complete assignments on time.
- Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and environments.
- Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work when numerous and competing demands are involved.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop appropriate alternatives where applicable.

- Ability to work on call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
