We believe in building strong teams, doing the right thing, and making a difference in the communities where we live. If you want to grow and do meaningful work, you'll feel at home here.

Offsite Construction Lead

Location: Flexible / Can Be Based Anywhere

At Interstates, we are always looking for better ways to build. Our Offsite Construction team plays a key role in improving how projects are planned, designed, and delivered by shifting work from the field to controlled shop environments whenever possible.

We are looking for an Offsite Construction Lead who can help align teams early, drive adoption of offsite strategies, and improve the way our VDC, Prefab, Planning, and Construction teams work together. This role will help ensure projects are set up for success from the start while strengthening processes that support quality, safety, and schedule certainty.

If you enjoy connecting teams, improving processes, and helping projects run smoother before the first piece of conduit is installed, this role may be a great fit.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Project Managers, Estimating, Planning, Prefab, and Construction Delivery teams to identify opportunities where offsite construction can improve efficiency, quality, and schedule certainty.
  • Help teams determine what work should be performed in the field vs. offsite and drive early alignment during the project lifecycle.
  • Support estimating efforts by helping incorporate offsite construction strategies into project pricing and planning assumptions.
  • Assist with project kickoff readiness, ensuring scope capture and planning processes are completed effectively.
  • Monitor project readiness and help ensure projects over 3,000 hours enter the kickoff process and complete required core processes.
  • Coach VDC leads on kickoff execution, project ownership, and continuous improvement through regular one-on-one feedback.
  • Serve as a connector between Prefab, Planning, and field teams, helping capture feedback and drive improvements in quality and production.
  • Support backlog visibility and forecasting by reviewing projections and helping align shop workload planning.
  • Develop and share monthly metrics and insights that highlight opportunities for coaching, process improvement, and stronger project outcomes.
  • Promote the long-term benefits of offsite construction including improved labor utilization, safety, innovation, reduced trade stacking, and faster project delivery.
  • Support post-project reviews with teams to identify lessons learned and improve future project planning.
  • Assist with Data Center planning efforts, including backlog visibility and improved coordination between projects and shop production.

What We're Looking For

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in electrical construction, prefab, VDC, project management, or related roles
  • Strong understanding of field construction and electrical installation practices
  • Ability to work across teams and align multiple stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze information and translate data into meaningful insights
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement and better project delivery

Travel: This role can be based anywhere but will require approximately 10-15% travel. Travel may include:

  • Visiting project sites to support early planning, kickoff alignment, and feedback between field and offsite teams
  • Attending industry events, prefab or construction conferences, and internal learning opportunities
  • Occasional travel between Interstates offices and prefab facilities to collaborate with project, planning, and manufacturing teams

Why This Role Matters

Offsite construction is helping transform how projects are delivered. By improving early planning and coordination, this role helps ensure our teams can build safer, faster, and more efficiently-while giving field crews the support they need to succeed.
