Find your calling at Mercy! The Responsible AI Program Lead supports the operational, analytical, and coordination needs of Mercy's Enterprise Responsible AI Program. This role helps translate Mercy's Responsible AI standards, governance expectations, and ethical principles into actionable workflows, documentation, processes, and stakeholder experiences. Working under the direction of the Program Director - Responsible AI, this role ensures consistent execution of governance activities, supports development of program artifacts, assists with knowledge management and reporting, and coordinates engagement across clinical, operational, technical, legal, and vendor teams. Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Science, Informatics, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Computer Science, Information Systems, Ethics, or related discipline).

  • Experience: 2-3 years of experience in program management, technology governance, compliance, healthcare operations, analytics, or related functions.

What we're looking for:

1. Governance Operations & Program Support:

  • Support the development, maintenance, and operational execution of Responsible AI standards, procedures, frameworks, and review processes.
  • Coordinate Responsible AI intake workflows, including documentation gathering, risk assessments, scheduling, and stakeholder follow-through.
  • Assist in preparing governance materials such as agendas, decision logs, model documentation, review packets, and compliance reports.
  • Monitor adherence to governance processes and escalate gaps to the Program Director as needed.

2. Knowledge Management & Documentation:

  • Support the creation, organization, and continuous maintenance of the Responsible AI Knowledge Hub, repositories, and shared assets.
  • Draft program artifacts, templates, visualizations, guidance documents, and training materials.
  • Ensure version control and consistent application of Mercy's taxonomy, metadata, and documentation requirements.

3. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination:

  • Facilitate cross-functional communication between clinical, data science, operations, IT, compliance, legal, cybersecurity, and vendor partners.
  • Help coordinate workgroups, AI Community of Practice sessions, and CoE activities, including logistics, follow-up tasks, and documentation.
  • Manage stakeholder inquiries related to the Responsible AI process and ensure timely routing and response.

4. Responsible Innovation & Risk Support:

  • Assist with initial risk screening of AI solutions using Mercy's AI risk categorization tools, CHAI-aligned frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Help identify key ethical, operational, data quality, workflow, and change-management considerations for each use case.
  • Support the Program Director in evaluating vendors and emerging AI tools for responsible technology alignment.

5. Reporting & Metrics:

  • Prepare drafts of dashboards, summaries, insights, and reporting for Mercy leadership, the Mercy Council on AI, and the Data Governance Council.
  • Assist in tracking program KPIs, compliance progress, and adoption trends across domains.
  • Help maintain audit-ready documentation for internal and external assurance requirements.

6. Strategic & Operational Project Support:

  • Support AI readiness projects, maturity assessments, workflow documentation, and implementation planning.
  • Assist with research on regulatory developments, national frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Help operationalize Mercy's responsibilities within emerging national or local AI assurance collaborations.
