Mercy Hospital South is hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our Medical/Surgical teams. This role is open to both experienced LPNs and new graduate nurses seeking a supportive, teamoriented environment with strong clinical exposure and opportunities for growth.

Our Med/Surg units care for diverse patient populations and offer collaborative teamwork, schedule flexibility, and a strong foundation for continued skill development, while supporting worklife balance.

Schedule & Shift Options
* FullTime: 36 hours per week
* Part-Time: 24 hours per week
* Shifts Options:
* Days: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
* Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
* 12hour shifts
* Self-scheduling available
* Free on-campus parking

SignOn Bonus (No Contract Required)
* $2,000.00

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Medical/Surgical About the Role

The MedicalSurgical Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or provider. LPNs play a vital role in supporting patient safety, performing assessments and skills within scope, documenting care, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team.

This role offers a strong foundation for LPNs who enjoy variety, teamwork, and hands-on patient care in a fastpaced inpatient environment.

Mercy Hospital South offers a variety of MedicalSurgical and specialty inpatient units. Whether you're a new graduate LPN or an experienced LPN, our team will work with you to match your skills, interests, and career goals to the right unit.

Available Units Include:
  • Inpatient Med/Surg - Broad medical diagnoses; ideal for building core Med/Surg skills
  • Med Surg 5E & 5W - Diverse adult medical patients with a focus on assessments, teamwork, and care coordination
  • General Surgery 3W - Postoperative care including abdominal, bariatric, and surgical recovery patients
  • Medical 7E - Med/Surg patients requiring cardiac monitoring and fastpaced acute care
  • Medical 7W - Acute medical management with strong emphasis on prioritization and patient care efficiency
  • Neurology 8E - Care for stroke, seizure, and neurological patients with interdisciplinary support
  • Orthopedics - Postoperative joint replacement, spine, and orthopedic recovery
  • Oncology 8W - Compassionate care for cancer treatment, symptom management, and endoflife care

Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program
  • Active LPN license in Missouri or a compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
    (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior hospital or acutecare experience
  • Additional certifications related to the specialty area

New graduate LPNs are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and assist up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and assist patients safely
