Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars. LEAD FABRICATION SUPPORT TECHNICIAN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Own the daily coordination of work and proper delegation to teammates.
- Oversee machine shop equipment such as CNC plasma, CNC bandsaw, manual saw operations, and manual hand processing equipment (drills, drill presses, grinders, etc.)
- Train new hires on internal processes and software
- Handle raw materials and finished goods in and around the weld shop
- Interpret prints/cut sheets and operate equipment (saw, drill press, etc.) to process structural steel and pipe
- Work in accordance with established safety rules and good housekeeping practices
- Provide support on additional equipment or tasks outside the job description as directed by the floor supervisor for production needs or continuous improvement
- Communicate detailed handoffs and coordination between day shift and night shift
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2+ years using Hypertherm Automation EDGE CNC controller and the full Hypertherm suite: true hole, true bevel, rapid part, nesting, and collision avoidance
- 2+ years of experience operating forklifts
- 2+ years of experience with overhead cranes, basic hand tools, tape measures, grinders, and blueprint reading
- 2+ years of experience cutting structural steel and pipe
- 2+ years of experience operating vertical and horizontal bandsaws
- Possess good problem-solving skills and have an eye for quality
- Experience using orbital cutting equipment
- Experience reviewing documentation from production records and databases
- Experience identifying material types and thickness as associated with work orders
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints to understand part tolerances per the print specification
- Experience with .DXF, .DWG, and various print file types
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to work standard shift hours (6:00 AM - 6:00 PM) including overtime and weekends based on site operational needs
- Able to drive a forklift and safely handle materials
- Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 25lbs unassisted)
- Must be able to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain, etc.
- Must be able to work in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
- Stand: Up to 10 hours per day
- Sit: Up to 3 hours per day
- Push/Pull: Up to 75lbs. (unassisted) between 1 to 2 hours per day
- Overhead reach: Up to 10 hours per day
- Walk: Up to 10 hours per day
- Lift/Carry: Up to 50 lbs. (unassisted) between 1 to 2 hours per day
- Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 6 hours per day
- Kneel/Crouch: Up to 10 hours per day
- Upper body twist: Up to 6 hours per day
- Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees 6 hours or greater per day
- Candidate must be capable of safely working at heights (up to 500ft), in confined spaces, operating heavy equipment and machinery, and performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description
