DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Database Administrator 2, you will lead the design, implementation, and management of complex database systems supporting web-based applications for Commonwealth agencies. Work involves developing and reviewing data models, ensuring efficient and secure database structures, and leveraging Microsoft SQL Server to deliver reliable data solutions. You will be responsible for overseeing data population and migration activities, including writing and reviewing scripts, managing data integration across systems, and resolving complex data issues. You will also have the opportunity to provide technical guidance to users and IT staff, establishing database standards, and supporting development through stored procedures and SQL programming. Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining database security, monitoring, and optimizing performance
- Ensuring robust backup and recovery processes
- Supporting database infrastructure by configuring servers, planning capacity, and implementing high availability and replication strategies
- Coordinating and overseeing contracted database work
- Ensuring deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and organizational priorities

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report in-office at minimum 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as a Database Administrator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Six years of information technology experience that includes three years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration; or
- Four years of information technology experience that includes three years in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
- Two years of information technology experience in the analysis, design, and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
