THE POSITION

This is a dynamic opportunity to work on behalf of veterans and their families through a unique partnership between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will be responsible for assisting professional staff in the Division of Veterans/Military Education who are responsible for providing access to education and training opportunities for the state's military personnel, veterans, and their dependents. Work involves maintaining and updating databases, providing general office support, responding to telephone and email inquiries, making travel arrangements, and running reports. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Administering the workflow process related to program approvals for institutions and training establishments
  • Organizing and proofreading completed risk-based survey packets and/or Supervisory Visit reports and preparing for review
  • Coordinating with fiscal offices and management services to support program staff's fiscal needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
