Sr. Manager, Regulatory Remediation

What is the opportunity?

The Sr. Manager, Regulatory Remediation is responsible for defining best practices and guiding regulatory and audit remediation efforts for the RBC Technology Infrastructure (TI) group. You will be responsible for providing guidance for the TI project managers who lead and manage risk remediation efforts, for designing and consulting on remediation plans (short term and long term) mitigating technology risks, and for ensuring coverage of the regulatory remediation requirements. This role will work closely with infrastructure and other partners to identify mitigation, and remediation plans and oversee the execution of risk remediation programs in alignment to RBC Risk Management Framework and regulatory expectations.

What will you do?

  • Lead the process to provide regulatory expertise guidance for the end-to-end risk remediation management lifecycle to include crafting management responses, develop comprehensive action plans, outline success criteria and gain agreement from all lines of defense

  • Provide risk oversight of remediation progress and ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Provide framework for evidence gathering and closure documentation that meets regulator standards

  • Ensure corrective actions directly address underlying causes and reduce residual risk to within risk appetite.

  • Develop senior-level, risk-based reporting distilling complex remediation content into executive-ready insights on residual risk, risk appetite, control effectiveness, and sustainability.

  • Prepare issue owners for required tollgates and provide documentary evidence requirements for closure.

  • Oversee remediation working groups, and escalation forums and influence stakeholders across Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit to remove blockers and hold owners accountable.

  • Prepare regulator-ready materials (management responses, artifacts/evidence mapping, traceability matrices, closure narratives) that directly align to supervisory language and expectations.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Haves

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in regulatory remediation, regulatory relations, or a similar role with a strong regulatory focus within large, complex financial institutions.

  • Direct experience closing issues to regulator expectations in the U.S. and Canada (e.g., working with management responses, closure packages, and evidence mapping).

  • Demonstrated ability to independently form and execute action plans in ambiguous environments and a proven track record of driving end-to-end outcomes.

  • Expert at senior-level, risk-based reporting-distilling complex remediation into executive-ready insights on residual risk, risk appetite, control effectiveness, and sustainability.

  • Deep knowledge of Three Lines of Defense practices, LoD tollgates, and evidence standards for closure; ability to design quality criteria and assess sufficiency of evidence.

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills for regulators and senior leadership (clear, concise, evidence-backed, aligned to supervisory language).

  • Strong stakeholder influence and escalation judgment; ability to lead cross-functional forums and hold action owners accountable.

  • Ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple risk remediation projects simultaneously

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a results-oriented mindset

Nice-to-have

  • Regulatory experience with US, Canadian, UK, Caribbean, EU or APAC regulators is a plus.

  • Experience working for a US, Canadian, or international regulatory body

  • Certifications or advanced degrees are a plus (e.g., CRISC, CISA, CISM, CAMS, CISSP, JD)

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $$90,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
