Description

The Leidos Civil NISC IV program has an opening for an Environmental Occupational Safety & Health (EOSH) Specialist / Safety Engineer to support the Federal Aviation Administration onsite out of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Ok.

This position provides technical support to ensure a safe and compliant work environment through implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Occupational Safety & Health Management System (EOSHMS), aligned with International Organization for Standardization standards ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Requires US Citizen or US Permanent Resident with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support EOSH programs including safety inspections, exterior building inspections (slips, trips, and falls), fall protection, and hoists/rigging
  • Conduct facility inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and safety regulations
  • Coordinate and conduct emergency evacuation drills.
  • Review plans and specifications for new equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure safety requirements are met
  • Observe field activities including trenching/shoring, scaffolding, electrical work, crane operations, and maintenance activities
  • Investigate accidents and incidents; perform root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
  • Perform safety audits and support EOSHMS compliance activities
  • Develop and maintain safety procedures, processes, and standards
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement controls to reduce risks to personnel, property, and the environment
  • Support multidisciplinary teams in evaluating operational hazards and risks
  • Research regulatory and technical guidance and provide training to personnel
  • Prepare documentation and reports supporting EOSHMS and compliance requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field (equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for determining qualifications.)
  • 5+ years of relevant experience (or 3+ years with a Master's degree)
  • Experience with occupational safety programs, environmental compliance, or industrial hygiene
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, and/or incident investigations
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
  • Ability to identify hazards and implement corrective actions in operational environments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting federal agencies (FAA, DoD, or similar)
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 management systems
  • Professional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or similar)
  • Experience with construction safety (fall protection, scaffolding, cranes, hoists)
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state requirements)
  • Experience developing and delivering safety training
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
