DESCRIPTION

This position will support check-in across Primary Care, Express Care, IBH, X-ray, and Lab services in Vista. Under the direction of the Practice Manager, the Patient Service Representative delivers essential front desk support by performing a wide range of clerical and receptionist duties that keep daily patient services running smoothly. This role greets and assists patients, manages check-in and check-out workflows, schedules appointments, verifies insurance and authorizations, updates patient demographics, audits billing documents, dispositions appointments, collects co-pays, and oversees the petty cash drawer. The representative works closely with physicians, nurses, and staff across UCSD departments to ensure a seamless patient experience. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years of previous related experience in a large complex healthcare setting.

  • Strong knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Demonstrated computer skills/ability to work between multiple systems during calls.

  • Must be able to work in an interactive environment.

  • Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-specialty clinic, including prior work in urgent care or primary care settings.

  • Authorization and registration experience.

  • Experience developing standard work, including process standardization, quality improvement, training, and collaboration.

  • Experience in Artera or similar patient communication tools.

  • EPIC, ORSOS, PCIS, and IDX experience.

  • Prior scheduling experience.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be willing to work various hours based on business needs. Possible overtime. Must be willing and able to float to other locations as requested.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and a pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,399 - $71,347 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.49 - $34.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
