Description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:



  1. All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive training programs for personnel across various functions.
  3. Ensure all training materials, programs, and content are current, relevant, and compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  4. Conduct training sessions for new hires, current employees, and management.
  5. Collaborate with managers and supervisors to assess skill gaps and provide training to enhance team performance.
  6. Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and guidance to less experienced personnel.
  7. Ensure all employees are trained and certified in OSHA-required certifications (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, First Aid/CPR).
  8. Maintain accurate records of employee certifications, training completions, and renewal deadlines.
  9. Coordinate with external training providers or certification programs as needed.
  10. Promote a culture of safety by emphasizing safety protocols, hazard recognition, and safe work practices.
  11. Ensure training programs meet OSHA, HACCP, GMP, and other applicable compliance requirements.
  12. Address safety concerns or nonconformities promptly in collaboration with the Safety Manager.
  13. Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance evaluations.
  14. Identify areas for improvement and update training programs accordingly.
  15. Implement new training technologies and approaches (e.g., e-learning, simulation-based training).
  16. Develop and manage training schedules to ensure timely and consistent employee training.
  17. Coordinate training sessions with plant production schedules to minimize downtime.
  18. Support performance evaluations by providing training data and skills assessments.
  19. Align training outcomes with performance metrics and departmental goals.
  20. Partner with department leaders, supervisors, and HR to identify and address training needs based on performance gaps, new technologies, or regulatory changes.
  21. Support leadership in developing a skilled and adaptable workforce.
  22. Maintain accurate and organized training documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  23. Track employee progress and training completions using appropriate systems or software.
  24. Participate in the development and improvement of departmental processes and procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One to Three years' experience as a leader, preferably in a maintenance department or operations.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and forklift certification required.
